Compass was inspired by the loss of my grandmother to colon cancer. She was a profound influence in my life, and losing her left a lasting wound. This story became my way of confronting that grief. The enemy in the book represents the cancer that took her, and through the comic, I'm able to defeat it and save her in the way real life would not allow.
