My practice is rooted in the visual and literary traditions that shaped me. These include the moral economy of Aesop's Fables, the narrative turns of O. Henry’s short stories, the psychological line work of Rembrandt’s etchings, and the narrative ambition of comics such as The Dark Knight Returns, Akira, The Crow, All-Star Superman, and The Last Ronin. These influences shape work that treats comics as a vehicle for sustained reflection. Dense crosshatching slows the act of reading and asks for deliberate attention. My stories draw from lived experience and social observation. I use the structure of the parable to explore what often goes unexamined, including human trafficking, addiction, and fractured family histories. These are not confessional narratives. They investigate how private experience collides with larger social forces. I want readers to recognize something true in these pages. I want them to find insight in stories that feel close to their own lives, even when the subject seems distant. Positioned between fine art and popular visual culture, my practice treats drawing as both storytelling and inquiry. It is a way of making difficult realities legible.
